We arrived in Geilo with the train from Bergen with a short stop in Finse. The starting point is the parking place in Geilo right near the train station. The way is easy to find. Follow the sign to Pariser Loipe. From Hakkesetstolen on take the T-marked way.
In Kinsarvik we took the ferry to Kvendal at the same day and went with bus back to Bergen.

This Hardangervidda Crossing starts at 800m, goes up to 1500m and ends at 0 meters. So you walk through the chancing landscape of the beautiful hardangervidda. Another advantage is, that you start slowly and you can increase your distance day by day.

You get the first highlight at day 2. On ustetind you have a great view over hardangervidda. My favorite is the tour from Rauhelleren to Sandhaug. Soon after Rauhelleren you walk up to an small hill and the top you get a fantastic view over the flat countryside of central Hardangvidda and see the Harteigen mountain the first time. My favorite cabins are Besso (delicious breakfast and dinner) and Torehytten.

The tour is easy to go except the last day down to Kinsarvik. The path over the plain stones is very slippery. The track from Torrehytten to Stavali is much more mountained than the other ones, but only good shape is needed.

We took 12 days for this 9 day tour. So the tour is adequate for families. Our sons were 11 and 15 at this time. We take a day break in Tuva, Besso and Torrehytten. Between Besso and Litlos there is one bigger river. Hiking sticks and some bathing shoes (like Crooks) helps.

At the end 8km before Kinsarvik the T-marked way ends. Don't follow the path. Go strait on until you come to a small street. Follow the street downhill. The way to the other waterfalls is very hard to go. This variant is much more quicker. Round about 1 hour.
