After the success of our 1940s Day to celebrate 80 years since the House of the Binns was handed over to the National Trust for Scotland, we are bringing back the event in 2025! Why not dress in your vintage best and learn about the Binns during the war and engage with historic reenactment groups as they bring to life the country during this tumultuous time...

Living history (The Edinburgh LDV & History from the Home Front). We are delighted to have two knowledgeable and fascinating historic reenactment groups attending with show and tell, vintage fashions and stories from the time.

The Codebreakers Trail. We need you! Crack the secret code by following the clues and finding letters and symbols throughout the House of the Binns Estate.

Costumed guided tours. Enjoy a guided tour of the House of the Binns with our guides wearing their 40s best.

Best dressed competition. Attend in 1940s fashion and you can be in with a chance of winning a 'spiffing' prize!
