40 ÷ 40 artists: Kenneth Burns painting workshop

An opportunity to receive tutelage in water colour sketching, drawing and painting, en plein air, around the buildings and quays of Stornoway harbour with local artist Kenneth A Burns.

Create your picture from inception to conclusion in the course of one day.

Beginning outside on location, selecting and exploring the scene using preliminary sketches to establish a picture. Back in a studio environment, developing and extending the ideas using a range of materials and techniques, which will result in a painting, ready to hang on the wall.

40 ÷ 40 is a retrospective exhibition of artwork by forty artists who have been significant to An Lanntair as we celebrate forty years. Kenneth Burn’s piece in the 40 ÷ 40 exhibition is Siabost bho Dheas: South Shawbost.

Wear clothing suitable for drawing outdoors. If the weather is too wet or windy, the drawing session will take place in An Lanntair’s community room. The sessions will run from 10am – 12pm and 1pm – 3pm, with a break in the middle of the day.
