Blithe Spirit - by Nol Coward

Blithe Spirit is a delightful comedy by Nol Coward that blends sharp wit with supernatural intrigue. The play follows Charles, a successful writer, who is caught off guard when a sance intended to help him research a book inadvertently brings back the ghost of his first wife, Elvira. As Charles navigates the chaos that follows, he must deal with the unexpected reappearance of Elvira, all while trying to maintain his current marriage.

With its playful mix of farce and supernatural elements, the play cleverly explores love, marriage, and the complications that arise when past and present collide.

Southwell Theatre Club first performed Blithe Spirit in, we believe, 1956 and is the first production of 2025 - our 75th anniversary season!
