A Saturday night of Afro-Colombian music at Jamboree with Candela y Tambó!

Candela & Tambo (Fire & Drums) is a professional group based in Palomino, Guajira, part of the Caribbean coast of Colombia. They are amongst the new wave of emerging bands spreading traditional folklore in and out of their own country. The band researches and performs traditional Colombian folklore with powerful lyrics, Afro-Colombian drums and hand percussion, also fusing strings and melodies to connect people musically around the world. Their repertoire includes a variety of Afro-Colombian musical rhythms, such as Cumbia, Bullerengue, Afro-Indigenous drums (Alegre, Tambora, Llamador), Maracas/Guasá/Shakers, traditional dances and attires, with a strong emphasis on rhythm and improvisation through learning verses to follow the 'cantaora' singer with palms and vocals, engaging the public in call and response chants.

On the decks CarlitosNino DJ brings the original sounds of alternative Latin music , past and present to the future of modern rhythms: Folklore, Nu-Cumbia, Tropical and World Music. Expect the roots from Africa and European influences to Latin American rhythms; sounds from the Pacific and Caribbean coast to El Sonido del Barrio and the street soundsystems that fuse South America traditional and alter-native music; the joy of Carnivals from Rio, Oruro and Barranquilla, with a London twist.

Jamboree food option: Our Arepatoire kitchen is open from 6pm serving a delicious mix of Italian/Colombian food for you to enjoy a pre-gig meal/snack if you wish!
