Charles Dickens and Rochester go hand in glove - he absolutely LOVED the former city and used many of its buildings, locations - and people - in his 320 known works. So much so that, outside London, we have more Dickens-related places than anywhere else!

The Mystery of Edwin Drood is almost exclusively set here, much of Great Expectations happens in buildings still very much in use today, plus numerous other well-known places such as Rochester Bridge.
