Conquest Theatre presents Abigail's Party

Abigails Party is a tragicomedy full belly laughs and also uncomfortableness at moments you will cringe .

The desire to fit in and keep up with the Jones is at the core of the play , it was very much social commentary when written in 1977. Today it is now a cult classic piece of theatre ..served with gin, light ale and pineapple and cheese on sticks and cigarettes, Beverley steers the play, is she manipulative or is she insecure with the desire to be liked and adored ? Beverley is hosting, the alcohol flowing, Demis Roussos is on the record player and the cheese and pineapple cocktail sticks are ready to go..she is Queen of the castle in her suburban semi, Beverly and husband Laurence welcome new neighbours Angela and Tony round for drinks. Sue from next door is invited too but the real party is happening back at her place, as Sue’s teenage daughter Abigail can’t seem to keep the racket down at her party . Awkward small talk quickly descends into inappropriate flirtation and marital disputes: and becomes the soiree from hell but it’d be rude to leave and we are desperate to find out what happens Come to see the Conquest Theatre's production of this iconic 70s classic .
