Dundee Choral Union Winter Concert

Dundee Choral Union’s Winter Concert is returning, when we will once again be joined by players from the Orchestra of Scottish Opera and four outstanding young soloists - Scottish Soprano, Catriona Hewitson; Contralto, Christine Sjolander; Tenor, Connor James Smith; and Bass, Colin Murray.

We will present two masterpieces from the Classical era - Mozart’s Solemn Vespers (‘Vesperae Sollenes de confessore’ K.339), with its famous ‘Laudate Dominum’ movement and Haydn’s dramatic ‘Missa in Angustiis’, also known as the ‘Nelson’ or ‘Imperial’ Mass, said to have been inspired by Nelson’s victory at the Battle of Aboukir Bay in 1798.

It will be performed in its original scoring for organ, strings, trumpets and drums.

Our programme also includes Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus, God is Our Refuge, Sancta Maria, Mater Dei.
