Formed under the midnight sun in Lofoten in 2005, the Engegård quartet has become one of Norways most sought after ensembles. Their bold fresh interpretation of classical repertoire, combined with their deep attachment to their Scandinavian roots has attracted international acclaim. Following the sellout success last season of the performance of Danish folk music at MCCS by the Danish Quartet, the Engegård quartet will perform Norwegian Folk music for string quartet. Their programme also includes a work which was premiered in 2024 and specially composed for the Engegård quartet by the leading British composer Julian Anderson, currently Professor of Composition and Composer in Residence at Guildhall School of Music & Drama .In addition they offer classical chamber music repertoire by Mendelssohn and Beethovens Harp quartet named after the pizzicato sections which are reminiscent of the plucking of a harp. This is an opportunity to experience a wide range of experiences in the genre of chamber music.
