Detaljer

An exploration of the unprecedented forgery ring behind thousands of fake Norval Morrisseau paintings - a scheme described by authorities as "the biggest art fraud in history” and considered the largest cultural appropriation event of modern day. Join us as we discuss the devastating cultural, financial, and spiritual damage inflicted on the Ojibwe artist’s legacy, as well as the wider implications for art markets across the world.

With the estate of Norval Morrisseau estimated to have suffered damages close to C$100m (£56.23m) we will unpack the consequences of art fraud which extend far beyond the financial costs. Through the lens of the recent court cases, documentary revelations and ongoing recovery efforts, the discussion also offers a chance to reflect on art's integrity, ownership, and cultural identity.
