Detaljer
Malian singer Fatoumata Diawara celebrates the launch of her new album at the Jazz Cafe. Fatou has become one of the most important voices of the new African artistic generation in recent years. Whether she is crooning through her soft ballads, or jumping on stage with a wild energy feeding off her funk tunes, she manages to captivate her audience at every single one of her shows. As a child she became a member of her father’s dance troupe and was a popular performer of the wildly flailing didadi dance from Wassoulou, her ancestral home in western Mali. Her debut album Fatou was released in 2011 on World Circuit to critical acclaim, and her three albums have since become the cultural reference of a ´´New Africa”. Between recording sessions she has also collaborated with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Damon Albarn, Africa Express, Bobby Womack, Mulatu Astatke and The Roots. She returns to the Jazz Cafe to celebrate the launch of her new album.
