Jasdeep Singh Degun

Extraordinary Leeds-born sitarist and composer, Jasdeep Singh Degun - Sitarist will be gracing our stage on Friday 20th September. Jasdeep has recently made history by becoming the first sitarist and Indian Classical musician to win the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society Instrumentalist Award. Following his triumphant sitar concerto Arya, premiered with the Orchestra of Opera North in 2020, Jasdeeps debut album was released in 2021 on Peter Gabriels Real World Records. Recorded with the legendary Nitin Sawhney and the support of a Sky Academy Scholarship, Anomaly ranges from high-wire sitar solos to lush, string-laden cinematic excursions. It places the sitar in exhilarating contemporary settings, yet its roots remain in the melodic and rhythmic frameworks of Indian classical music.
