Johnson / Nicols + Dave Sear & friends

Dan Johnson is a drummer, currently based in Bristol, whose work often strays from improvised music into performance art. He previously appeared at Fizzle in a captivating duo with local percussionist Nathan England-Jones. This time he will collaborate with the widely revered improvising vocalist Maggie Nicols, who has appeared with many of the top European improvisers, including John Stevens Spontaneous Music Ensemble, and co-founded the Feminist Improvising Group. Locally based trombonist Dave Sear is an incredibly versatile player whose technical command of the instrument has made him a choice musician across a range of styles, from pop and funk to jazz and contemporary classical. For this very special gig we have invited Sear to play with a mystery band whose members will not be revealed to him until the day of the performance.
