Martin Flett is an Isle of Lewis singer-songwriter who is releasing his debut solo album at the age of 68.
When The Introverts Come Out was recorded at Wee Studio in early 2024 with a group of island musicians including Scott C Park, Colin Macleod, Louisa Maclean, Keith Morrison and Andrew Eaton Lewis who has been mentoring Martin as part of An Lanntair’s artist support programme, funded by the Foyle Foundation.
Born and raised in the Outer Hebrides, Martin started his career as a power-lifter following a severe leg injury. He turned to songwriting during the Covid-19 pandemic and has since written over 100 songs.
Road-tested at numerous gigs on the island, the songs selected for When The Introverts Come Out are both instantly memorable and deeply emotional, summoning memories of classic singer-songwriter albums from the 1970s.
Martin’s album launch will include guest appearances by fellow songwriters Richy McKendrick, Iain Smith and Michael Winder.
You can buy the album online from Martin’s website.
