Seckou Keita returns to his roots with his latest project Homeland, where he explores identity, sense of belonging, and questions the very idea of home, influenced by his own relationship with both his adoptive UK homeland and his native country of Senegal. Bringing together seven of West Africas greatest living performers, Homeland is filled with new reworkings of ancient traditions and culture. The group includes one of Senegals best known vocalists, Korka Dieng, and Moustapha Gaye, lead guitarist for Youssou nDour. Seckou is on a mission to explore what it means to be a modern global citizen while living with seven centuries of musical heritage between his fingers, and this new show will range from new compositions to poetry, sacred prayers, and raucous dance.
