Pete Long presents the music of the Benny Goodman Sextet

For over fifteen years popular reedsman Pete Long has been taking his big band around the UK performing Benny Goodman’s famous Carnegie Hall concert of 1938 to great acclaim.

Tonight, though, the focus of this show is the contribution made by the early pioneer of the electric guitar, Charlie Christian, who played with Benny’s sextet for a short time in the early 40s before dying from TB at the age of just 24. Benny considered Christian the greatest musician he ever played with and tonight the guitarist Dave Chamberlain recreates the style of this young musical genius with superb authenticity.
