Plug & Play presents John Bowie plus open mic

Jon Bowie is a guitarist and vocalist whose original solo acoustic material draws inspiration from years of listening to and playing many musical forms. However, 1960`s folk, the traditional folk music of Ireland and Scotland and acoustic blues from Mississippi and Texas are the predominant basis of his fingerstyle guitar playing. Jazz theory and open tunings also contribute to his musical explorations along with more exotic sounds derived from scales more commonly heard in various music from around the world. There is also an undeniable influence from his years of playing in an electric blues and rock three piece. Lyrically, his songs are a distillation of personal experience filtered through an appreciation of the land/seascapes of Cumbria, Scotland and Wales. He will be performing a set of completely original songs, many of them for the first time
