A stellar collection of musicians from the UK and beyond dazzle with African-infused music in a double bill with jazz and soul singer Renato Paris.
MATTERS UNKNOWN is the debut project from Jonathan Enser, multi-instrumentalist and composer, and the brass contributor to Nubiyan Twist. He has put together an ensemble that features some of the best musicians in the UK, including Nerija, Emma Jean Thackray, Nala Sinephro and Noya Rao.
The writing is steeped in deeply spiritual, organic, soulful roots, with undercurrents carrying grooves from Blues to West Coast Beats, all evoked through African diasporic influence – it’s a rare thing to hear such diverse sounds and influences creating such compelling synergy.
Renato Paris is a BRIT School graduate and a regular on the vibrant young London jazz scene. Music has taken him all over the world and he has worked with an array of artists, including Julian Joseph, Burt Bacharach, Jorja Smith, Nicola Piovani and Carleen Anderson to name a few. As well as leading his own band, he is a key member of two-time MOBO award-winner Moses Boyd’s Exodus band.
