Sidwell Street Spring Parade

Detaljer

Sidwella, the patron saint of Exeter, will be making a re-appearance at the head of a glorious, light-filled street parade happening soon.

An enormous, illuminated puppet of the Saxon saint will glide gracefully through the centre of Exeter, accompanied by lantern-carrying revellers at the Sidwell Street Spring Parade, taking place at 7pm on Sidwell Street on Saturday 22 March.

This delightful, sparkling event celebrates Exeter's culture, community and rich diversity and aims to be the first of many annual events to do that.

The parade is open to all and totally free.

Who is St Sidwella?

Sidwella lived in Exeter in the 8th century, the daughter of a wealthy landowner.

The compassionate Sidwella often brought food & water to villagers toiling in the fields outside Exeter's city walls - much as the St Sidwell's Centre looks after the citizens of Exeter today. Now she lives on as a giant, colourful, illuminated puppet, shining kindness down onto Sidwell Street.
