Detaljer

This tour entails a descriptive history of the cathedral with, wherever possible, opportunities to touch and feel aspects of the building such as the signs of the work of the original masons, stone and wood carvings, an embroidered altar frontal, evidence of the iconoclastic damage during the Cromwellian era, enamels and semi-precious stones on the altar rail, the gravesite of Edith Cavell, and much more.

There will be special mention of the memorial of Thomas Tawell.

Please note that the building is over 900 years old, floors can be uneven and there are steps and minor slopes to negotiate. A ramp can be provided if prior notice is given, for one of the sets of steps which has no handrail.

The standard ticket price will include space for an essential supporter or helper alongside the person with visual impairment or sight loss.

Please note, our specialist tours always sell out quickly so make sure you book a ticket straight away.

The tour starts at 11:15am on Wednesday 7th August and lasts approximately 90 minutes.

Meet inside the main visitor entrance to the cathedral.

Tickets costs just £5.00 plus a small booking fee.

Our tours primarily take place on the flat, within the cathedral and cloister, but there may be some short flights of steps as we make our way round the building. There are usually plenty of opportunities to sit down during the tour.

Please note that tickets for specialist tours are non-refundable.
