Step-free access tour of the Castle

We welcome you to our step-free access to Lauriston Castle where we will welcome you to our Maids' Hall and show you a digital tour of the castle. Especially for visitors who are not able to climb the stairs to the principle floor. Watch a presentation about the rooms of the castle with narrative about William and Margaret Reid, who left this wonderful gift to the nation. Silver Sunday is the national day for older people, which is co-ordinated by Age UK. Age UK’s Silver Sunday is a national day where people of all generations can come together by hosting fun and free activities for older people. It is a day where older people can meet new people, visit new places, try new activities and connect with their local communities and the generations around them. Please note these events are for seniors only and can be booked by ringing the Castle direct on 0131 336 2060. Edinburgh Living History are our multi award- winning team, who interpret the history of the castle in a variety of entertaining ways in Edwardian costume - bringing alive the history of the house. Each performance is carefully devised by Edinburgh Living History to be as historically accurate as possible and include a touch of drama and a soupçon of humour. Why not make a day of it at Lauriston and have some lunch at Mimi’s café on site.
