Zhenya Strigalev Quartet

Born in St. Petersburg, a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London and working between the New York and London jazz scenes, sax playerZhenya Strigalev is a maverick at the heart of modern jazz. (The Telegraph)

Zhenya has featured with the likes ofEric Harland, Ambrose Akinmusire and Aaron Parks and is known for intense and memorable playing, with a unique sound on the saxophones. He has absorbed the techniques and sounds of both jazz history and from around the globe.

Zhenya brings to Watermill Jazz a must-see lineup, featuring young bassist Ewan Hastie who was a finalist in the BBC Young Jazz Musician competition in 2022 and outstanding Miami-based drummerHarvel Nakundi.

His quartet will play Zhenyas newest compositions as well as music from his last 3 albums and classic jazz pieces in original arrangements.
