Details
The walk starts and finishes in Clare Castle Country Park, with its motte and bailey castle and listed Victorian railway buildings. It then progresses over the River Stour into Essex and follows the valley floor eastwards through arable farmland and occasional wooded areas to the village of Pentlow. We then cross back over the Stour and enter the village of Cavendish via a 'back garden' footpath. We shall have a short stop on the Green before progressing westwards up to the shoulder of the valley and joining the Stour Valley Path which affords wonderful views across the valley, and of Clare, as we return.
