A Hero of the People by Brad Birch

Details

An immersive reimagining of An Enemy of the People by Henrik Ibsen. Hero or Enemy, who can actually tell the difference? Everything is going to be fine, better than fine, in fact theres nothing that cant be achieved if everyone just believes a little. Thats what the towns MP, Mick, thinks. In a political drama of hopeful emotion vs scientific fact, Tory MP Mick Powell campaigns to bring investment from a fracking company. When his adopted sister Rhiannon Powell GP discovers the water table has been poisoned, their old sibling rivalry plays out in the court of public opinion, with Mike's daughter Hannah, local farmer Patrick on whose land the fracking takes place and newspaper editor Elin sucked into their family psychodrama. Our Black Box shows are a stripped-back, fringe-style performance allowing newer directors the space to develop their skills. By Brad Birch Directed by Nathan Hook
