Inspired by the finding of an exquisite, exceptional late Anglo-Saxon ring in mid Devon which is now in RAMM, there will be a day of exploration of Anglo-Saxon Exeter and Devon. It will include opportunities to get close to rarely displayed Anglo-Saxon charters connected to Exeter and its Cathedral, objects and coins from the period, and the ring itself. Speakers are John Allan on Anglo-Saxon Exeter and Devon; Emma Laws, Cathedral librarian, on the Anglo-Saxon documents held by Exeter Cathedral; Dickon Perryman, an expert on coins and the mints in Devon; and Tom Cadbury, Assistant Curator at RAMM, on the finds and the ring. Attendees will receive a specially prepared booklet about Anglo-Saxon Exeter and Devon to accompany the day. The day will start at 10.30 in RAMM and finish by 4.15. Seeing the charters will require walking to the Cathedral and back to RAMM. Lunch is not provided. Image – the Wembworthy Anglo-Saxon ring
