More detail The walks will explore the heart of medieval Reading under the guidance of Reading Museums trained volunteer guides. The tours will focus onto the highlights of the Abbey Quarter, including the Hospitium where medieval pilgrims stayed, the impressive, conserved Reading Abbey ruins and the Abbey Gateway, the grand entrance to the Abbots Lodgings which became Queen Elizabeth Is royal residence. We will explore the fascinating history of Reading Abbey Quarter while enjoying a relaxed walk of this beautiful part of the town. There will be no planned stops during the walk. However Reading Museum has a cafe, shop and toilet that will be accessible before and after the walk.

About the walk leader The tours will be led by Reading Museum experienced Volunteer Tour Guides. This group of knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers bring a wealth of lifelong love for this town and at least 4 years of training and experience leading Reading Museums official public tours.

Getting there Reading Museum is only a two minute walk from Reading train station (served by mainline and Elizabeth Line services) and all main bus stops
