Details

Take a deep dive into one of the first multicultural symphonies with the Bamberger Symphoniker, narrator Gerard McBurney and guest artists. Beyond the Score® offers illuminating multimedia investigations into iconic compositions. Its productions weave together live music and acting with stunning visuals to tell fascinating stories about the artistic, social, political and cultural contexts in which musical masterpieces were created.

In this family-friendly event, the Bamberger Symphoniker and their Chief Conductor Jakub Hrůša, narrator Gerard McBurney and guest artists including actors and a gospel singer explore Dvořák’s Ninth Symphony, ‘From the New World’. Discover how the composer felt inspired by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s epic poem The Song of Hiawatha, as well as Native American music and the songs and dances of his homeland to create one of the first truly multicultural symphonies.

Beyond the Score® has plenty to offer classical aficionados and newcomers alike.
