Details

ELIANE CORREA'S CUBAN QUINTET: Sun 11th Aug, 5-6.15pm @ the GUILDHALL

Lineup: Eliane Corea (keys and MD), Dunia Correa (lead vocals), Landy Diaz (trombone), Frank Portuondo (bass), Oscar Martinez (percussion) Latina powerhouse pianist Eliane Correa performs with a five-piece band assembled especially for Brecon Jazz, playing music from right across her career. Eliane’s unique sound equally reflects her Latin heritage and the London musical melting pot experience. Her lyrics make a point of highlighting the female experience from a place of celebration, liberation and empowerment; changing the gender narrative in Latin music from the traditionally male-centric approach is an important part of her vision. Although now a familiar face on the Capital’s Latin/Jazz scene many will remember Eliane’s past electrifying appearance with the Maite Hontele South American Ensemble in 2018. What they say " Elements of soul, funk, rock and jazz nod to Hancock, Havana and the melting pot that is London. Utterly maravilloso. " (5 star JazzWise)
