ChopChop // Holy Clang // DJ Fiery Biscuits

Details

Lost Property present a double bill from two of Brighton's most inventive bands.

Veering from super-bumping agit-funk to angular jazz-punk and beyond, ChopChop have garnered a reputation as a highly original and compelling live band. Galician frontman Xels de Toro mixes performance art with his yelped vocals, the band pull in eclectic influences from New York's No Wave scene to absurdist theatre, and the end result is a band that can make you dance but will leave you wondering... 'What was that?'

ChopChops music snakes round its orator like a slippery thing, cymbals replaced by the clatter of hubcaps on toms, cutlery-jammed guitars theres an itchy jazzy vibe to the melodics, fuelled by a fertile imagination full of bruised shapes and punkish angles. FREQ mag

Holy Clang have recently expanded from duo to 4-piece, with the addition of guitarist Simon Chandler (also known for his solo project Expedient Self) and trombonist Will Roberts (from Hill Collective and more). Their latest EP Robbing Fruit -https://holyclang.bandcamp.com/album/robbing-fruit-ep (produced by ChopChop's Eddie Haydn) shows well how they are developing: the angular doom-dance feel is still there, but is now augmented with a heightened apocalyptic jazz feeling - very good it is too!

"Holy Clang are what ESG would have sounded like if they leaned more into punk and dance music and had a jazz drummer." - Under the Radar mag
