Master-violinist Callum Smart is back with us for Tchaikovskys Violin Concerto. Beethovens Overture Leonora No.3 is the finest of the four versions he wrote for his opera Fidelio. Considered too long for the opera itself, its taken its place as a popular concert opener.

Commissioned by the Royal Philharmonic Society and triumphantly premiered in London in 1885, Dvoks 7th Symphony is often hailed as his greatest. He asked his German publisher for an advance, claiming Ive a lot of expense with my garden, and my potato crop isn't very good"!

Steve Migden will give one of his lively and informative pre-concert talks from 6.40 to 7.10 pm. He has been a professional musician and educator since arriving from the USA in 1965 to study the horn at the Royal Academy of Music.
