Data Sonification 101

Data sonification is the art and science of turning data into sound. Just as data can be visualised through bars, lines, and colours, it can also be sonified – transformed into pitches, sounds, and audio effects. Journalist and musician Miriam Quick will lead this workshop, in which she’ll share:

You’ll have the opportunity to collect your own data or use objects gathered during Andrea’s workshop to map it to sound, creating and performing your own sonification. No prior knowledge of data, sound, or music is required! Bring a laptop if you wish, as well as objects that could create interesting sounds.
