The club began in 1874 when a group, including members of the Stoke Cricket Club, participated in the first organized rugby football match in Coventry, against Allesley Park College. This game marked the beginning of a journey that would see Coventry Rugby emerge as one of the leading names in English Rugby Union. They experienced early success, navigated the challenges of the professional era, and underwent a rebuild that has positioned it as a sustainable team, with community engagement at the heart of its ambitions to return to the Premiership.
