Evie Ladin & Sophie Wellington

Banjo player, singer, songwriter, percussive-dancer, choreographer and square-dance caller, Evie Ladin grew up steeped in traditional folk music/dance, and is “A natural entertainer with a gift for infusing folk practices with contemporary verve.” – San Francisco Chronicle. Evie’s performances, recordings and teaching reconnect Appalachian music/dance with other African-Diaspora traditions, and have been heard from A Prairie Home Companion to Lincoln Center, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass to Celtic Connections, Brazil to Bali. Based in Oakland, CA, she’s enjoying tour dates with Sophie Wellington, a multi instrumentalist and percussive dancer based in Boston, MA. Sophie plays old time music on fiddle and guitar, and draws connections between traditional repertoire and spontaneous improvisation. Most recently she’s been touring big stages with Willi Carlisle. Her solo program integrates dance, fiddling, and singing into a singular musical expression. Together Evie & Sophie are bound to spark a fire!
