An Irish fiddle and flute phenom, Frankie Gavin has enjoyed a long and storied career. He won numerous All-Ireland competitions for his instruments at just 17, he’s played with the Rolling Stones, and he’s performed for no fewer than four US presidents (JFK, Clinton, Bush, and Obama).
But his name is perhaps best known as part of De Dannan, the globally celebrated Irish folk group he co-founded with Alec Finn in the 1970s. While the original band split in the early 2000s, the latest incarnation came together in 2023 and sees Gavin (Fiddle, Flute) joined by Catherine McHugh (Piano), Ian Kinsella (Guitar), Diarmuid Ó Meachair (Melodeon, Accordion), and Kaitlin Cullen-Verhauz (Vocals, Cello).
Originally from Lancashire, Tina Jordan Rees is a Glasgow-based multi-instrumentalist and composer. Her debut flute and whistle album, Beatha — meaning "life" in Gaelic — features upbeat and energetic tunes inspired by traditional Irish and Scottish music, and earned her a nomination for Composer of the Year at the 2022 MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards.
