We are delighted to be presenting the work of Kilmarnock’s own Jack Sutton in a special showcase in the historic setting of Dean Castle. Jack Sutton’s practice is tied to history and place, firmly settled in Ayrshire landscapes, he intricately explores both wild and familiar scenes.

‘This exhibition aims to cast some light on some of Ayrshire's overgrown and forgotten places whilst also celebrating those which have been lovingly preserved and cherished by their communities.

Dean Castle and its surrounds provide an inimitable and inspirational focus for this work and my core intention was to convey some of the love that I have for it and for Ayrshire's ancient places.

My journey to this show began as a tiny boy, extremely fortunate to be surrounded by such wonders and encouraged by parents, enthusiastic to make my childhood magical. It culminates here with a man, trying to do the same for his own tiny boys.’

Jack’s work will be on display in a pop up exhibition in the Palace Kitchen from Saturday the 20th July 2024. Join us for some refreshments to celebrate the opening of Jack Sutton’s ‘From the Garage to the Cellar’ from 1.30pm – 2.30pm on the afternoon of the 20th July at Dean Castle.
