This heartwarming story follows the transformative journey of young evacuee, William Beech during World War Two. William is taken to a small, quaint village in the west country and is put into the care of Mr Tom Oakley. Tom soon discovers that William has had a rather dark up-bringing but under Tom’s care, the young boy flourishes and Tom finds the company he was desperately missing. Suddenly, William’s mother summons him back to war-torn London. Things are certainly not looking good for him and when there is no word of him for weeks, Tom sets out to find his beloved evacuee.
