Probably our most popular performer at Linlithgow Jazz, award-winning violinist Seonaid Aitken pays tribute to her French Jazz violin hero Stéphane Grappelli to mark 25 years since his passing. Specialising in Gypsy Jazz, Seonaid is a regular tutor at the Grappelli-Django Camp in The Netherlands and performs extensively with her Scottish Jazz Award-winning band Rose Room. She has also been a guest with the Tim Kliphuis Sextet, Tokyo Django Collective, Swing 2023 and top jazz fingerstyle virtuoso - and former Grappelli guitarist - Martin Taylor MBE. Seonaid and her piano quintet will celebrate Grappelli’s 60+ year career with swingin’ tunes from his solo repertoire such as ‘Pent Up House’, ‘Ol’ Man River’ and ‘Sweet Georgia Brown’ and will be sure to include a few numbers from his Quintette du Hot Club de France days and legendary duets with Classical violin virtuoso Yehudi Menuhin.
