Join us for a night of deep grooves as Abdoulaye Samb & Minnjiaraby blend Senegalese traditions with blues and jazz, joined by Dare Balogun and TrYb. Celebrate African rhythms and their global influence!
Abdoulaye Samb, a Senegalese guitarist, singer, and composer, returns to Grow, Hackney. His music is rooted in Fula and Mandinka traditions, fused with blues, jazz, and global sounds. His band, Minnjiaraby-meaning "the love of culture"-creates intricate guitar work, hypnotic rhythms, and soulful melodies. Having played across Africa and Europe, Abdoulaye's performances are uplifting and immersive, carrying the spirit of Senegalese music.
Keeping the party going is Dare Balogun, a British-Nigerian DJ blending traditional African genres like Highlife and Makossa with contemporary dance music. A Balamii Radio resident and founder of Roots to Rhythm, his sets explore groove, culture, and history, delivering vibrant percussive sounds and forward-thinking club energy.
Warming up the evening is TrYb, a powerhouse selector who has performed at Glastonbury and opened for Megan Thee Stallion. As a radio host on NTS and Voices Radio, TrYb brings a dynamic blend of diasporic sounds, pushing musical boundaries.
