Composed in 3 weeks in 1741 to the libretto by Charles Jennens and first performed in Dublin in 1742 to great acclaim, Handel's Messiah remains one of the best-loved works in the choral canon. To attend a performance of the oratorio is regarded as a Christmas tradition by many music lovers despite its depiction of the passion and resurrection in addition to the birth of Jesus. Make your Christmas extra special by joining Llandaff Cathedral Choral Society, Orchestra De Cymru, and soloists Elizabeth Pooley, Helen Jarmany, Richard Monk and Phlip Gault all under the direction of Simon Lovell-Jones and in the wonderful setting of Llandaff Cathedral on Saturday 14th December 2024 at 7pm.
