These guys were a sell out at the Hall back in 2023 so we're delighted to be welcoming them again in May.
Acclaimed song & storytelling trio Harp & a Monkey return to Baslow Village Hall on 31 May for another superb performance of folk songs & storytelling.
Martin Purdy (vocals, glockenspiel, accordion, harmonica and keyboards), Simon Jones (harp, guitar, viola) and Andy Smith (banjo, melodica, guitar and programming) are imbued with a deep Lancashire sensibility that shines through in their beautifully crafted vignettes of life, love and remembrance.
Mark Radcliffe (BBC Radio 2): Fantastic and fascinating. The Observer: Bold and brilliant. The Guardian: Excellent. Mike Harding (folk legend): Great fan... from the leftfield but steeped in the tradition. Kathryn Tickell (BBC Radio 2): Unique sound I really love the soundscapes they create. BBC New Traditions: Remarkable storytelling, remarkably unique band - innovative and different! Steve Lamacq (BBC Radio 2): Electrofolk as shiny as a new button.
