High Colour Pres: 6161, Surgeon's Girl, Mackwood

6161 is a surge of fiercely drum led and brass heavy alt jazz, its the brand new project of Matt Stockham Brown who has previously received critical acclaim winning a Montreux Jazz Festival talent award in 2019, releasing two albums with Run Logan Run and most recently a 5 star Guardian review with Daniel Inzani’s triple release. Last time he came through London was with Run Logan Run, Paraorchestra and for 3 sell out shows with Cosmo Sheldrake. Matt has also recorded/performed globally with the likes of Massive Attack, Rodriguez, This Is The Kit, Gregory Porter, Liz Lawrence, Cloth, Get The Blessing, Marc Ford, Squirrel Flower, Ghostpoet any many more.

This exciting original line up of Drums, Synths and a four piece horn section is not to be missed. 6161 singles will be dropping from January and the full self titled debut album will be released in March on Severn Songs label.

Surgeons Girl’s releases on labels including Lapsus Records, Inside Out Records & Livity Sound has showcased her ability to combine techno with lush ambient soundscapes in a sound that’s very much in its own world. Having recently performed a live analogue set for the re-opening of Bristol Beacon to much acclaim, Surgeons Girl’s unique sound offers a level of unpredictability that keeps her on the front line of Bristol’s music scene and keeps us eager to hear what she has in store for us.
