Ichiko Aoba Presents "luminescent Creatures”

Details

To listen to Ichiko Aoba is to be drawn into a world as intimate as a warmly lit home, but cosmic in scale. The Japanese singer, songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist, has successfully brought a dedicated online fanbase to international tours spanning more than 20 countries. Aoba’s latest album, Luminescent Creatures is the culmination of her nearly 15-year-long career - during which she’s collaborated with Japanese luminaries such as Ryuichi Sakamoto, Haruomi Hosono, Cornelius, and more - and finds her deftly melding the jazz-infused folk of her early albums with the orchestral world building of her 2020 opus Windswept Adan.

London hosted her debut performance with an international quintet in 2022, and this time Aoba is again joined by the 12 Ensemble in addition to co-writer and producer Taro Umebayashi for another first outside of Japan: A full performance of Luminescent Creatures in its entirety. Joined by 9 musicians on stage, this will be the most ambitious production outside of Japan to date, and will also feature re-arranged versions of some of her most iconic compositions.
