Former Head of Property at NT Croome, Jamie Whitehouse isGrounds & Public Realm Manager at Coventry University responsible fordeveloping and delivering student engagement and a volunteer programme which promotes the importance of biodiversity. He and his team have created award winning planting schemes, wildflower areas, herbaceous planting and fruit trees all of which benefit both people and wildlife.
In November 2024, Coventry University was awarded The Green Gown Award in the category of Nature Positive and the Green Flag Award for Best Climate Adaption. These awards follow their previous honour as winner of DEFRAs Bees Needs Champions for their dedication in creating a biodiverse campus where people and nature can flourish together. This prestigious award recognised the teams exceptional efforts in creating an edible garden, insect breeding corridors and a pollinator hub on the Coventry city centre campus.
Working in partnership with the Centre of Agroecology, Water and Resilience (CAWR), and Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, the Environmental & Grounds Team deliver a range of events including bee walks and hedgehog talks for the campus community.
Tickets 5 for visitors which includes complimentary tea / coffee.
