Jane Austen and Netley Abbey - An Inspirational Place

The inspiration for Northanger Abbey, this walk celebrates the medieval Netley Abbey’s link to the gothic literature - a romantic ruin that inspired not only Jane Austen, but also Horace Walpole and Thomas Grey.

• Meet inside the the car park area within the grounds of Netley Abbey
• Main parking is Abbey Hall free car park, Netley, SO31 5FA
• Bring appropriate clothing and footwear
• Tickets MUST be booked in advance as places are limited
• Minimum number for walk to commence is 4
• Ground is largely uneven and there are some short steps
• Walk lasts approximately 90 minutes
