Details

When Derek Jarman died in 1994 he left behind a unique body of work, spanning film, visual art, writing, gardening and activism.

Jarman's literary agent and friend Tony Peake has been granted unprecedented access to his archive for a new, authorised biography that recounts Jarman's story from the bleakness of post-war Britain, through his formative experiences at The Slade, to his later life working with the likes of Sir John Gielgud, Tilda Swinton, Pet Shop Boys and The Smiths.

Joining him to reflect on Jarman's legacy are the actor turned BAFTA nominated filmmaker Dexter Fletcher, and three-time Academy Award winning costume designer Sandy Powell. Fletcher made his acting debut in 'Bugsy Malone', starred in Jarman's 1986 film 'Caravaggio', and has directed films including 'Rocketman' and 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. Jarman collaborator Sandy Powell is also known for her work with Neil Jordan, Todd Haynes and Martin Scorsese.
