US pianist Kevin Hays and Spanish vibraphonist Jorge Rossy are two well-known musical personalities from the generation of jazz musicians that emerged in New York in the 1990s. They have played together in various formations over the years, but this is the first time that they are playing together as a duo.
Kevin has played with many well-known jazz icons including Benny Golson , Joshua Redman and Sonny Rollins. He has a trio with drummer Bill Stewart and has played and recorded in duo with fellow pianist Brad Mehldau.
Jorge also has a distinguished career, having played with Woody Shaw, Kenny Wheeler, Sal Nistico, Brad Mehldau and many others.
Releasing their latest album this month, Kevin and Jorge’s repertoire consists of compositions by both musicians along with interpretations of standards.
Expect evocative musical landscapes, intriguing experimental improvisations, lyrical melodies, and rich soulful harmonies, all played with a sense of humour, infectious rhythmic counterpoint and unpretentious playfulness that are essential elements of the jazz tradition.
