Leonid Gorokhov returns to Cambridge with EAChO

Details

The East Anglia Chamber Orchestra is delighted to return to the West Road Concert Hall in Cambridge and the Apex in Bury St Edmunds with another attractive, romantic, and demanding programme. Under the baton of Jacques Cohen, the concert will begin with Weber’s dramatic Freischütz Overture. Conjuring the mysterious atmosphere of the German forest, the overture gives a colourful representation of the supernatural and romantic impulse of the opera.

The orchestra is then joined by the amazing and internationally famous cellist, Leonid Gorokhov. A professor in Hannover, Leonid has performed with most of the major orchestras around the world. Schumann composed his Cello Concerto in A minor at the peak of his career, having been appointed as the musical director in Düsseldorf.

It took Brahms twenty years to produce his magnificent First Symphony. Hugely romantic and yet formidably constructed, the symphony is a masterpiece and proves that Brahms is the worthy successor to Beethoven.

Join us for a wonderful evening of exciting and inspiring music-making.
