Lifting Stories - Folkestone Puppets

Lifting Stories is an interactive puppet and visual theatre show about the Folkestone Leas Lift for the whole family. Delivered by local theatre group Folkestone Puppets, it tells the story of the funicular lift that runs between Leas promenade and the Leas Coastal Park, from its grand opening in 1885 up to its closure in 2017 - and planned re-opening in the next year.

Following successful performances undertaken across primary schools in Folkestone, this is your chance to see the brilliant show with the family for free! Join builders Chaz and Dave on their whirlwind history tour of Folkestone's beloved lift, accompanied on keyboard by composer Johnny Wilkinson.

Founded in 2017 by Andre Verissimo, Folkestone Puppets aims to develop and deliver puppet and visual theatre that entertains, inspires and challenges audiences. Creative director and puppeteer Verissimo has brought together a team of local collaborators to develop and deliver ‘Lifting Stories’.
