Live Music Event - ACOLYTE

This event is part of Sharmanka's programme of monthly live performances by local and international musicians, artists and performers.

October's live event brings the potent fusion of poetry and psychedelic music to Sharmanka, courtesy of Acolyte. The ensemble is fronted by Iona Lee whose wide acclaim includes winning a John Byrne Award for film poetry, being a slam champion and having her debut collection Anamnesis published by Polygon in 2023.

Combined with bassist Ruairidh Morrison, percussionist Daniel Hill and Gloria Black's synth and backing vocals, Acolyte deliver soundscapes with storytelling, hypnotic loops, harmonic depth and existential motifs to create truly unique performances. This promises to be a very special experience amidst Eduard Bersudsky's marvellous mechanical sculptures and one not to be missed.

The music event will be followed by a mini performance of Sharmanka's kinetic artworks. There are a limited number of tickets to fill this intimate space, so if you want to be there, the soundest advice is to book early!
