Join Surgeons' Hall Museums for the latest addition to our bite sized lunch time talks.

In this lunch time talk Museum Research Fellow Professor Ken Donaldson will discuss how the clothes we choose to wear can affect our health.

No doubt ‘fashion’ has existed since people began wearing clothes but its present form, with fashion labels and houses, began in the mid-19th century. From then on some fashionable aspects of (largely) women’s wear have been harmful to women. This talk discusses how fashion’s toxic side has included –, poisonous dyes, flammable materials, restrictive shoes and corsetry and downright hazardous items of clothing.

Talks will last approximately 30 mins and there will be tea and coffee available for ticket holders.
